Steelheads hockey offers everything you would expect from a professional hockey franchise. Fast paced action, structured plays, impressive goalkeeping, bone crunching body checks and, of course, hockey fights. Steelheads games are typically held on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The Idaho Steelheads are an ECHL professional hockey team and an AA affiliate of the NHL Dallas Stars. The Steelheads are the ECHL Kelley Cup Champions in the 2003-2004 and 2006-2007 seasons. The ECHL is a twenty team, nationwide league.

The Steelheads play in downtown Boise in the 5,000 seat Qwest Arena. The Qwest arena is a complete, full service venue and the environment is safe and very family friendly. The Boise Hawks play in the 3,500 seat Memorial Stadium located on the banks of the Boise River. The Idaho Stampede is serious basketball. In the 2006-2007 season thirty-five former Development League players were on the NBA opening day roster. The NBA development league consists of sixteen teams and functions as a true minor league farm system for the NBA.
